Problems that seem bigger than my prayers

Zion National Park

When my problems are bigger than my prayers I go to this verse:

Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. Isaiah 59:1

Holding onto this verse when I pray for family and friends really adds zest to my prayers, and bounce to my worship.

The Blessing of Humility

Humble Pie
by Stephen Hufman

Humble pie drab and crusty
Has texture that’s kind of dusty.
Giving credit to God alone,
Leaves little left to call my own.
I prefer another way to follow
Yielding glory not quite so hollow.
Tis joy I find in great renown,
To hear applause in every town.
Not to worry I’ll give God his due,
I’m sure he’s proud of all I do.
Someday we’ll meet there in the sky,
He’ll set before me that piece of pie.
But I now prefer a tastier dinner,
One where I announce the winner.
I want to live life my way now,
Where I will never need to bow.
So off into the expanse of space,
No humble pie will I now face.
On my own path all alone,
A place where I can set the tone.
For no one there will I abide,
In no one there do I confide.
Just me alone in first place.
No humble pie in MY face.

“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5

Memories of Tomorrow

SH_160422-0314

Children are like wildflowers in the sand, making memories beautiful.

Yesterday we had so much fun.
The joy my grandkids bring.
To have the laughter never end
With songs we love to sing.

Visit cut short I wanted longer,
So many seeds to sow.
Time consumes the love we shared,
Waning as they grow.

My hope is not in memory
Nor in a fading sorrow.
But in Jesus, Lord of all
He’ll make yesterday a foretaste of tomorrow.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Which Way?

Walter's Wiggles

Determining truth in a world filled with lies is difficult. Lies always disguise as truth. Some lies are actually half truths. Some lies we use to hide our shame. When we cannot cope with the truth about ourselves we lie. Lies lead to more lies, and we get further from the truth. The biggest lie is that there is no truth. But, when one gives up seeking the truth, then you are truly lost.

Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”  John 18:37

The question is who are you following, which way are you going.?

Amazing Love

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained;
What is man that You take thought of him,
And the son of man that You care for him?
(Psalm 8:3-4)

When I am in Zion National Park I feel so small, yet it is there I am struck by God’s amazing love for me.
