When You Need a Friend

Flying home with friends

As I face this day, I am thankful that I do not face it alone.

“The Lord is with me; he is my helper.”  Psalm 118:7

I can let the anxiety of life go, knowing God will be with me. Oh, how good it is to know the name Jesus (God saves) and Immanuel (God is with us). I can truly rejoice in Him, for He has saved me and goes with me forever.

“This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

A dry parched land

Wandering in a parched land my day is dry and shriveled. I begin to wonder where is God?

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from the words of my groaning?
O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, and am not silent. Psalm 22:1-2

This psalm says what I feel. Farther into the psalm I discover that this is prophesy of Jesus on the cross.

I can count all my bones;
people stare and gloat over me.
They divide my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing. 1Psalm 22:17-18

With that insight comes help, for I know He knows the desert I am in. That is why He came—to help me.

Thank You Lord.
