Thundering Cascade of Glory

Great Mystery

I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
Psalm 63:2-3

I meditate on this verse when days are gray,
and my mind is blank for words to say.
This psalm reminds of His flowing love.
An enduring cascade from God’s throne above
Its crushing power rends the grave.
Victorious love that frees the slave.
Christ in me the hope of glory.
Love’s great mystery now my story.

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27

  1. For some reason, Stephen, this morning Jesus reminded me of my sin (which I have no doubt he’s forgiving). Needless to say, your poem, especially “This psalm reminds of His flowing love. / An enduring cascade from God’s throne above / Its crushing power rends the grave.” has touched some deep, hidden place in my spirit. Thank you for reminding me afresh of the overwhelming love of Jesus for me, and God’s forever promise never to leave or forsake me. Filled with gratitude by grace (both yours and our Master’s)…. Jerry
