Do you ever pray and think God is not listening…
When I am worried and I pray, but my anxious thoughts continue.
When I am tired and I pray for strength but continue to feel weary.
When I am filled with grief and I pray but continue to cry.
When I am afraid, and I pray but only hear my racing heart.
Lord, are You listening?
In my anxiety, God helps me to rely on His peace.
In my weakness, God helps me build my faith in Him.
In my sorrow, God cries with me and draws me closer to Him.
In my fear, the fear of God triumphs and burns away the dross.
When I think God is not listening,
I am the one who is not listening,
for He is at work in me.
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:12-13
Steven: This prayer expresses exactly what I’m feeling since last Wednesday afternoon. Thanks for posting. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Thanks be to God.

Thank you for your thoughts Steve. In the sometimes deafening silence, I need to be reminded of your words.
Several other things came to mind. First, the phrase, “Lord are you listening?” reminded me of one of mother’s entries in her journal. Your thoughts have intersected with her.
I am also reminded of two hymns that I listen to a lot.
HE GIVETH MORE GRACE
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater, He sendeth more strength when the labors increase, To added affliction He addeth His mercy, To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure, His power no boundary known unto men, For out of His infinite riches in Jesus, He giveth and giveth and giveth again.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance, When our strength has failed ere the day is half-done, When we reach the end of our hoarded resources, Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
TEACH ME THEY WAY O LORD
Teach me Thy way, O Lord, teach me Thy way! Thy guiding grace afford, teach me Thy way! Help me to walk aright, more by faith, less by sight; Lead me with heav’nly light, teach me Thy way!
When I am sad at heart, teach me Thy way! When earthly joys depart, teach me Thy way! In hours of loneliness, in times of dire distress, In failure or success, teach me Thy way!
When doubts and fears arise, teach me Thy way! When storms o’erspread the skies, teach me Thy way! Shine through the cloud and rain, through sorrow, toil, and pain; Make Thou my pathway plain, teach me Thy way!
For as long as my life shall last, teach me Thy way! Where’er my lot be cast, teach me Thy way! Until the race is run, until the journey’s done, Until the crown is won, teach me Thy way!
