I was just thinking that darkness cannot take over the light but light can overcome the darkness. Is that true?! Food for thought.

In response to your question two verses come to mind:
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it. John 1:5
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
These verses and the fact that the grave (death) could not hold Jesus Christ leave no doubt that Jesus has triumphed over all darkness.
