The Gift

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” John 4:10 NIV

If you knew the gift of God,
The forgiveness His life has won.
No darkness can prevail
over the grace through Christ that’s come.

Sing with joy for His redemptive power.
Mighty songs of those washed clean.
Smashing chains of fear and sorrow
Led forth in peace serene…

if you knew

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. Psalm 98:1 NIV

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12 NIV

Being There

Not as majestic as being there

I can describe music,
but it is nothing without the hearing.

I can explain a beautiful mountain scene
but it is not the same as hiking to the top and being there.

I can read about the great banquet,
but knowledge falls far short of sitting at God’s table and tasting.

I can talk about joy,
but only by putting my hope in Jesus does it take wing.

We fool ourselves into being satisfied with hollow words,
instead of plunging into God’s love and living in Him.

Come, all who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come buy and eat! Come buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Isaiah 55:1-2

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and believes in Me will never be thirsty.”  John 6:35

I can hear about “Living Water,” and the “Bread of life, but until you drink from God’s well of salvation it remains merely words.

So, how does one drink and eat?

Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” John 4:10

So ask, and believe,
by faith you receive.
