Come to the Light

Sunrise lifting the fog

My heart has heard You say, “Come and talk with Me.”
And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.” Psalm 27:8 NLT

O Lord, life is hard and I stumble at every turn.
Come and talk with Me.
I’ve made so many mistakes, I’ve ruined everything.
Come and talk with Me.
I have hurt those close to me.
Come and talk with Me.
I deserve to suffer for what I’ve done.
Come and talk with Me.
My life is beyond recovery.
Come and talk with Me.
How can I come when I can’t forgive myself?
Come and talk with Me.
Lord my heart wants to come but I’m scared.
Come and talk with Me.
Lord, I am coming…
Please, help me come.

Sun Peeking at the Day

Canada Geese flying over Leavenworth WA

The sun peeking at a brand new day.
A flock of geese honking mist away.
Deep breaths of cold clean air.
All creation proclaims God’s loving care.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:20

Quiet Speaks

Snow quiet

Quiet has a voice.
Stronger than the guns of war.
Louder than the shriek of grief.
Calling us out of our anxiety.
“Be still and know that I am God.”

(Psalm 46:10)

A Psalm for This New Year

Dawn of a new day and a new year

God has numbered our days (Psalm 90)
In Him—there is redemption for days past.
In Him—there is guidance and strength for today.
In Him—there is hope for all the days in our future.

You hem me in—behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. (Psalm 139:5-6)

In these times of great turmoil, Lord teach me to number my days in You.

Dreaming Dreams

The Dream

In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17

Lord, pour out Your Spirit for all to see.
Dreaming Your dream of love for me.
Inspire the vision for the Word You give,
So others may dream love’s dream and live.

God is the dreamer, and we are His dream. All we need do is ask and believe.

“But to all who believed Jesus and accepted Him, He gave the right to become the children of God.” John 1:12 NLT

A Psalm for the spiritually poor

Rain for a dry land

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3

How do I make worship of You fresh and meaningful?
How do I make my praise filled with vibrance and zest?
How do I make prayer life changing?
How do I make Your word jump off the page?
I can’t do this.

I come and fall before You in humility for my barren spirit.
You have said a broken and contrite heart you will not turn away.
Lord, let Your Spirit move and transform me.
Even if it is the thousandth time.
You can do this.
I know You want to do this.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me.

You hem me in—behind and before; You have laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. Psalm 139:6

Hope of Glory

Sun rise on the Icicle River

When death comes to make its claim,
to judge what I’ve become.
I’ll point to Him who took my shame.
Oh the mystery—
no longer two but one.

Christ in me the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

Rejoice!

Sunrise on Wedge Mountain

The Lord is near,
I can be gentle,
I can be kind.

The Lord is my Shepherd,
He knows my way,
I can rest in Him.

The Lord will never leave me,
night will not overcome,
nor fear drive Him away.

The Lord is near,
I can lie down in peace,
I can rise up in joy.

Rejoice in the Lord always;
again I will say, rejoice!

( Philippians 4:4-5; Psalm 23; Hebrews 13:5)

A Perfect Day

Autumn in the Cascades

Warm sunshine
The gentle wind
Scent of pines
Crickets calling out
The first leaves of fall come tumbling down
A day shouting to God’s glory
His mercies are new every morning.
How can I not hear and join in the praise?

Through the Gates of His Love

Icicle River

Though I don’t deserve it,
through His grace I can receive it.
Though my words can’t describe it,
through His Spirit I can walk in it.
I can make no promises about my future,
other than He will never leave me.
His love and goodness woven into my life… forever.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” Psalm 100:4
